Second April 2011 No April Fool's joke: For the 12th Times were yesterday evening, the German "Big Brother Awards" awarded to particularly active Datenschutzfrevler. Findings had been to this festive occasion about 300 guests in the Hechelei in Bielefeld (yes, the city actually exists, despite all the conspiracy theories - I could convince myself the ;-)), including the jurors (including the Chaos Computer Club ) and those in charge of foebud eV, which organizes the annual awards ceremony.

20th June 2010 There it is again: the World Cup. Pardon, the FIFA World Cup. That ceremony, held every four years and mass media dominated like no other "cultural event".
Never before was the organizer, FIFA, as powerful as today: more member countries than the UN (208:192) , annual profits in the hundreds of millions of dollars, monopoly (as the sole world governing body of football).
The "United Nations of Football", as the organization is often called, are also for a radical commercialization of football. Who does not play as a member, or rather not spurt will be sanctioned drastically. Examples are plentiful (for skeptics easily researched the phrases "the FIFA sanctions" or "criticism of FIFA" via search engine).

This past long weekend spent the 14th Dalai Lama visits in Frankfurt. He who understands it like no other minister of the eastern hemisphere, the people (masses) to move. At least here with us in the West.
For the first time this year, it cost admire admission, the Tibetan "god king" to be allowed to live. The regular ticket prices ranged from 20 to just under 250 €, truly not chicken. With "Once in a lifetime to meet the Dalai Lama" was the organizer, the nonprofit Buddhism in Frankfurt GmbH in 2009, but the appropriate slogan, the crowd at the event to intensify. The Dalai Lama as the iconic pop star.

29th March 2009 How is power - mostly invisible - looks and what it does to people, one of the attempts shareholder initiative organized festival in moving pictures to bear in mind. Since January, it is aligned in German cinemas until autumn 2009, then on up to a total of 120 cities of Aachen Zeil Rhine.

11th March 2009 2009 was chosen for Darwin Year - the most famous representative of the evolution theory would have been 200 years old this year. The EVO magazine has dedicated to a website designed, and my colleague Ron Engert made it the cover story of the current issue of his magazine Tattva Viveka . Only two of numerous publications, event announcements and other honors - Google says in the keyword "Darwin Year" already 235 000 hits, barely a quarter of the year is over.
Especially a lot of trouble, the station 3sat with the Flash animation has "The Darwin-code" . In addition to all sorts of cultural references and of course Darwin's biography and splintering of presentation of various colleagues and competitors (was forgotten, however, the British philosopher and sociologist Herbert Spencer , whose major research findings zeitgeist in issue 2-2007 had been reported in detail), it is mainly a series of Video clips on key concepts of evolution ("Darwin-bits") that are particularly successful, for example, on mimicry, coevolution, or epigenetics also got into the fashion creationism.
It would be desirable, however, take the Darwin year, for the occasion, the dialogue on the weaknesses or fractures in the theory of evolution, which there are still crucial to revive this entry »
